Friendly--in matters of pocket

I love the role of opposition in the 'democratic' drama on show. First, they came up with this unique term called 'the friendly opposition'. That deserves applause for creativity. Opposition and friendly? Great joke I wish the boys of PML-N had also come up with some definition of this new term they have introduced in democracy. The proponents of democracy are baffled, no wonder, by this strange amendment to the concept. Now Shahbaz Sharif assures the Premier of 'blocking the full brunt of the attack' on PPP. I remember Ms Marvi Memon saying in one of the talk shows that she was sure that Nawaz and Zardari have a secret pact and that they are one. Turns out her assessment was true. They both seem to be acting as per the agreed terms and are in complete cahoots with each other. Who is the punching bag? The poor people of Pakistan, grueling under the weight of poverty and bracing for yet another blow that might land in the shape of the increased power tariff on January 1. As they are knocked off-balance and about to fall, they are treated to the dose of federal ministers saying "we have a right to make money". Justification? When others have done it, why can't the PPP? How would this country survive is anybody's guess-AMJAD HABIB MIRZA, Lahore, December 23.
