A number of people simply have no idea about the First Information Report registration procedure. The whole procedure is pretty simple. A victim, witness or any other person knowing about a cognizable offence can file an FIR. This FIR can be filed in the nearest police station from where the crime or offense took place. It is also important to know that if somehow you witness a crime and are not in the jurisdiction of the police station still you can go to the nearest police station and lodge your complaint. It is the duty of the concerned officer to forward your complaint to the concerned police station. The real problem is that the notorious Thana culture has to change as the citizens are afraid to step into a police station. ZULFIQAR HAIDER, December 24.
