Islamabad - Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, the central leader of Pakistan Peoples Party, has said that Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari is returning to Pakistan to preside over the death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto at Ghari Khuda Bux on December 27.
“Solidarity will be expressed with martyrs of Peshawar tragedy and their families while prayers will be offered, followed by a candlelight vigil,” he said in a statement. He said that functions would be held in all districts of Punjab as well as at the martyrdom site of Benazir Bhutto – Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi –where local and national leadership would gather to pay tributes to their leader. Similarly, such functions will be held in other provinces as well, he added.
He stated that the workers would reiterate their resolve to exterminate terrorists, extremists and their apologists from the country. He said that the martyrdom day of Benazir Bhutto had been declared by the party leadership as a day to express solidarity with the victims of the Peshawar tragedy and their families. He said that a function would be held in the PPP Punjab Secretariat in Lahore in which a large number of local leaders, office-bearers and workers would participate to pay tributes to their beloved leader.
He vehemently refuted the news published in a section of press regarding the cancellation of observance of martyrdom day. The news is baseless, fabricated and misleading, he asserted.
