Islamabad - A consultative meeting on enforcement of Quran Act was held here on Wednesday. Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, federal minister for religious affairs and interfaith harmony, chaired the meeting which was attended by the representatives of religious ministries of all the provinces and Punjab Quran Board.
Addressing the meeting, Sardar Yousaf called for forming a uniform policy all over the country to ensure error-free printing of the Holy Quran and protection of Shaheed pages of the holy book on the pattern of Punjab Quran Board, which is already working for the purpose. The minister also agreed to the suggestion to set up recycling plants in all the provinces for the disposal of Shaheed pages of the holy book and a board will also be formed at the federal level for coordination with the provinces. He said the government would extend all possible help, coordination and guidance to the provinces to establish Quran Boards, which is the need of the hour as no integrated work to this effect has been done in the past.
The help of minister was also sought to play his role to end duty on import of high quality paper for the printing of the Holy Quran.
The representatives of the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh lauded the services of the government of Punjab for printing Quran and protection of Shaheed pages of the holy book.
