LAHORE - PTI chairman Imran Khan will visit PAT head office in Model Town on Tuesday (tomorrow) to meet Dr Tahirul Qadri.
Imran is visiting PAT headquarters on the invitation from the latter and the meeting is called “the continuation of Dr Qadri’s consultation with leaders of different political parties in connection with his campaign against Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif and law minister Rana Sanaullah.”
Dr Qadri has been demanding resignations from the both PML-N leaders “in connection of the findings of Model Town inquiry report by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi.” He warned the two to tender their resignation and surrender themselves before the law before December 30 or get ready to face the “massive protest campaign.” The PAT is hosting multi-party conference on the same date of deadline (December 30) at its head office.
Punjab government held Justice Najafi Report for three years and made it public on December 5 after Lahore High Court order. Model Town incident claimed lives of 14 PAT workers in a clash with police on June 17, 2014. Dr Qadri claims ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab CM and law minister are direct responsible of the incident.
Khan’s arrival in Model Town after publication of the inquiry report is the second high profile visit of a mainstream political party head after PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zaradari tour to Model Town accompanied with other central leadership of PPP some two weeks ago. Both leaders (Khan, Zaradir) has already announced support to PAT future protest campaign.
Besides the two leaders, Dr Qadri, during last three weeks, held meetings with leaders of other political parties including PML-Q president Chaudhary Shujat Hussain, Awami Muslim League head Sheikh Rashid, Pak Sarzameen Party chief Mustafa Kamal and Majlise Wahdatul Muslimeen head Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and received their backing on his demands.
A statement issued by PAT said Dr Qadri yesterday phoned Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-S head Maulana Samiul Haq and invited the both at PAT APC on December 30. The statement added that both leaders assured Dr Qadri of their participation in the conference. PAT chairman and Ch Shujat also made telephonic contact yesterday and discussed the future strategy.
The statement quoted PAT secretary general Khurram Nawaz Ganapur saying that Dr Qadri was not a purchasable commodity and that Awani Tehreek’s agitation campaign will be the last nail in the coffin of Sharif family, which, according to statement, ordered killings of innocent people in Model Town on June 17, 2014.
