KARACHI - Mayor Wasim Akhtar has said leased houses will not be allowed to demolish like China-cutting, this in not justice to demolish the houses of those who construct these with their hard earned money. Those who cheated people and did china-cutting must be punished and for this will go to the courts for legal action.

He said we respect rulings and orders of the honourable court but on humanitarian basis the residential units should not be razed.

He expressed these views while visiting the Bagh-e-Korangi where he met with the affectees. Zahid Mansuri, Khalid Sultan, Abubakr Bhai and Saad bin Jaffer were also present on this occasion.

He said we are sure that the court will do justice with these people. KMC and MQM Pakistan are standing with the affectees of this demolition drive.

He said Goths are being given lease and no one is stopping this by occupying any land a Goth is established in the name of any feudal and then this Goth is given leases. Now this game must stop, he demanded.

He expressed hope that the court will do justice with the affectees and they would not be deprived of the shelter they got after hard struggle and after spending whole of their earnings on these houses.

GREETS CHRISTIANS

Mayor Karachi addressed a ceremony held in honour of Christian community in which Christian employees of KMC were given their cheques of dues.

Wasim Akhtar said all minorities have equal rights in the constitution of Pakistan. Our religion gives us lesson to respect others rights. Christian living in Pakistan is our brethren and they have valuable services in the field of education, medical, sanitation and progress of our country.

He said not only Christian employees were given their advance salary before Christmas but their dues are also being paid today amounting to Rs2 crores and 6 lakhs and since 2012 so that they could celebrate Christmas happily.

He said KMC ensure that the employees are getting better facilities on every occasion.

He said the field of water and sewerage and cleanliness are given importance in Karachi and we hope that the employees of KMC would perform their duty even in better way and excellently.

Mayor Karachi also cut the cake along with the leaders of Christian community on this occasion.

DMC central chairman REhan Hashmi, DMC east chairman Moeed Anwer, vice chairman dmc Korangi Ahmer Alim, parliamentary leader Aslam Shah Afridi, chairmen of land committee Syed Arshad Hassan, chairman law committee Arif Khan Advocate, Aman Khan Afridi, Alam Zaib Alai, and other chairmen of city council committees besides fathers and Christian leaders belonging to different churches of Karachi were also present on this occasion.
