Islamabad - Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Sajid Kiani instructed the police officers to promote community policing in the capital to restore confidence of the cops and the citizens in each other.
Addressing police officers at a meeting held at the office of Rescue-15 on Sunday, the SSP said that criminal-minded people should be monitored for curbing crime. Zonal SPs, divisional police officers, DSP CIA, station house officers (SHOs) and officials of crime investigation department attended the meeting.
The SSP said that crime mapping should be done for gauging the occurrence of crime and according to that, the cops should be deployed, he directed the officers. He said that bad performance would not be tolerated and personnel who damage reputation of the department would not be forgiven. The meeting reviewed the situation of crime in Islamabad.
The SSP Operations asked the officers to analyse the crime committed in the last five months as it would produce better results and could bring down crime rate. He said that action against the proclaimed offenders and wanted criminals should be accelerated and crackdown should be launched against beggars and drug dealers as per direction of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Dr Sultan Azam Timouri.
He said that the cases under investigation should be handled on the basis of merit and officers and jawans should make it a priority to resolve problems and difficulties of people. He said that action would be taken against criminals selling liquor and cases should be registered against them.
The SSP asked the officers to improve performance at installations of safe city project, at pickets and reporting rooms. He said that CIA Investigation Wing and Zonal SPs should report about patrolling on a daily basis.
Sajid Kiani said that record of daily reports and FIRs should be computerised and close-circuit television cameras at reporting rooms should be installed. The patrolling plan should be implemented and the policemen should be briefed about their duties, he added.
