RAWALPINDI Second Human Resource (HR) Conference with a theme of Fueling the Change was held under the auspices of Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) at Morgah Club here on Wednesday. Most significant feature of this conference was presence of distinguished speakers and overwhelming participation of HR professionals representing more than 50 organisations from all major sectors of economy including oil & gas, manufacturing, banking, petro-chemical and fertiliser, cement, IT, engineering, FMCG, healthcare, packaging, telecom, NGOs, consultants, academia, and power generation. They attended the conference pursuing the sole purpose of learning and understanding of contemporary challenges being faced by HR professionals in todays dynamic and challenging business environment. Speaking at the occasion, M Adil Khattak, Chief Executive Officer, ARL, highlighted the importance, ARL Management gave to its human resources. We consider human resources as our prime resource. While acquiring the latest state of the art facilities, ARL has never been oblivious to the human factor and has been in the forefront to discharge its obligations, he added. According to Adil Khattak, all over the world, organisational functioning is being transformed to face the emerging new challenges. The current economic downturn, the worst since World War-II both globally and locally, confronts us with a daunting challenge calling for creative and out of box solutions, he maintained. He said that considering the prevailing socio-techno-eco-environmental challenges being faced by the private as well as public sector organisations, ARL realised the need for a platform where HR professionals and experts could share their ideas, experiences, and indigenous solutions to the common people issues. Adil Khattak appreciated the ideas of distinguished speakers and the enthusiasm shown by participants, and assured that they would always find ARL ready to extend maximum support and cooperation in research, development and other related activities. During the one-day conference, eleven papers were read by eminent HR experts including Kamran Rizvi from Navitus, M Tahir Mushtaq from PTCL, Paul Keijzer from Enggage Human Resources, Dr Amanullah Khan from Riphah International University, Andleeb Abbas from Franklin Covey Pakistan, Hassan Tariq from ICI Pakistan Limited, Faiez H Seyal from ACE Consulting Group, Asif Saeed from ARL, Zahid Ali Mubarak from Khushali Bank, Dr Hamid Rafiq Khattak from Army Public College, Tahir Jawaid from Engro Chemicals Limited. They shared their thoughts on all-important aspects of HR Management.
