QUETTA - Forty-one candidates from Balochistan are in the run for Senate elections, according to provincial Election Commission.

Five candidates withdrew their nomination papers on Friday. After the withdrawal, the EC issued the final list of candidates for the Senate elections.

According to the list, 19 candidates are in the run for seven general seats, nine candidates for two women seats while eight candidates for two seats of Ulema and Technocrats. Similarly five candidates would contest elections on one seat of minority. Out of 22 nomination papers for seven general seats, the nomination papers of candidate Ahmed Khan were rejected, while two candidates Manzoor Mengal and Umar Jamali withdrew their papers.

Similarly, out of 13 nomination papers for women seats, the commission rejected the nomination papers of two candidates, Hina and Fouzia Tabasum. Farra Azim Shah and Nasima Bibi withdrew their nomination papers. For the two seats of technocrats, 10 candidates had filed their nomination papers. Out of them, the nominations papers of Javed Iqbal and Manzoor Gichki on technocrat seats were rejected.
