LAHORE – President Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (Nifaz-e-Sharia) Engineer Muhammad Saleem Ullah Khan breathed his last at a hospital in the City on Friday after protracted illness. He was 70. He has left behind three sons Waseem Ullah Khan, Aleem Ullah Khan and Kaleem Ullah Kkhan and a daughter and widow to mourn his death.  His funeral prayer will be held at Data Darbar at 1 pm today (Saturday) and Qul will be held Jamia Hizb-ul-Ehnaf Gunj Bukhsh Road at 10 am on Sunday.

Engineer Saleem Ullah started his political career 40 years back by formulating Pakistan Sunni Party. Later, he joined JUP and served the party on different posts. On disintegration of the JUP, he parted ways with Shah Ahmed Noorani and joined Abdul Sattar Niazi faction as central secretary general. He continued struggle for implementation of Sharia in the country.

He established own party with the name JUP (Nifaz-e-Sharia) and remained president till his death.
