LAHORE – The Punjab Highways Patrol on Friday claimed to have foiled a robbery bid on the National Highway after an encounter, in which they recovered a motorcycle and some cash, but ‘lost’ the highwaymen.
Giving details, a PHP spokesperson said that during routine patrol on Roshanwali Jhal, Faisalabad their team witnessed some men who were looting the passengers of a vehicle near Rorry Balochan.
When they tried to apprehend the dacoits they opened fire on them the PHP team returned fire. The dacoits were able to flee from the spot in the darkness taking cover of a nearby corps. The PHP team recovered some cartilages a mobile phone.
They were able to recover a motorcycle (Honda 125) which had been snatched the previous day
Meanwhile a PHP team in Adda Bahar, T.T. Singh recovered stolen cash Rs19000 from possession of two pickpockets namely Muhammad Manzoor and Muhammad Chand of Pir Mahal.
Yet another PHP team, in Latifabad, Bahawalnagar, stopped two suspicious persons, namely Liaqat Ali and Sadam, of Haroonabad, who were riding a motorcycle.
The PHP men claimed to have recovered 20 stolen iron plates of railway track near Mai De Jhugi.
