ISLAMABAD  - Pakistan was elected for a three-year term to the 36-member Executive Board of the IFAD, Foreign Office said in a statement issued on Friday. Rome hosted three important UN organizations; FAO, WFP and IFAD and Pakistan returned to the governing bodies for food security and agriculture. “These elections are recognition of Pakistan’s role as well as its effective participation in discussions and decision-making on global food security and agriculture”, the FO said in a statement issued on Friday.

 “Pakistan benefits from programmes of FAO, WFP and IFAD and will continue to work with these organizations to promote rural and agriculture development and food security,” the statement added. Pakistan was earlier elected to the 49-member FAO Council. \
