SHERGARH - The people organised a thanks-giving rally to laud the services of the Okara District Police Officer (DPO) and Shergarh police SHO for checking rampant crime and securing the lives and properties of the citizens here the other day.

The rally led by Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat President Mian Amjad Salim was taken out jointly by Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat, Labaik Ya Rasulallah Tehreek, Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran, Human Rights Welfare Organisation, Jafria Students Federation and civil society to appreciate the recent efforts of Okara District Police Officer  Dr Raja Muhammad Abid and Shergarh police SHO Maqbool Ahmad in curbing the crime rate in the area.

The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of the District Police Officer  and police.

Addressing the rally, ASWJ President Min Amjad Salim said the DPO and SHO had won the hearts of the people by their commitment to curb crime in the area. While praising the DPO and SHO, he said that such police officials were assets to the Police Department.

He also appreciated the DPO for suspending the former SHO Aslam Majhiana and taking action against the people who had attacked a peaceful rally against the rising dacoties about two week ago. Labaik Ya Rasullah Tehreek president Dr Ziaul Hassan Tahir and Okara district Human Rights Welfare Organisation president Mirza Bilal Aziz Baig also addressed the rally.
