RAWALPINDI - A civilian was martyred and three others injured when Indian forces opened unprovoked fire at a village in Nakyal sector, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the ISPR, a civilian identified as Mohammad Farooq was martyred in the firing. The injured were transferred to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Nakyal.
Pakistan Army, in retaliatory fire, targetted Indian posts, the ISPR statement added.
Less than 24 hours ago, unprovoked cross-border firing by Indian forces claimed life of a 19-year-old civilian, who was working at a crush plant in Titri when he was martyred by the Indian troops.
FO SUMMONS INDIAN ENVOY
Pakistan on Saturday again summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh for the fifth time in a month and condemned firing across Line of Control by Indian forces. The Foreign Office said Director General (SA & SAARC) Mohammad Faisal summoned Singh over "unprovoked ceasefire violations" by Indian forces on Feb 23 in Nakyal sector.
Faisal said the firing killed a man in ThurtiNarr village located some 1,200 metres from the LoC and three other people were injured. The Foreign Office had earlier summoned India's deputy high commissioner on February 5, 15, 20 and 22.
"This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when Indian forces committed more than 1,970 ceasefire violations," he claimed. He said the alleged ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has called upon United Nations Security Council and other international forums to take a serious notice of unprovoked Indian firing and shelling across the Line of control (LoC).
In a statement issued in Muzaffarabad on Saturday, the prime minister said that target killing of innocent civilians, women and children by Indian troops was highly condemnable act and international bodies must take serious notice of the inhuman act.
He said the people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir were losing temper due to this naked aggression by the Indian forces and it could trigger a war in the area endangering peace of the region.
He said the only solution of Kashmir issue was the exercise of right of self-determination by the people through free and fair plebiscite in the valley. He said world community has to play its role in this connection.
