Govt approves over Rs.3b to plant 100 million trees

The government has approved an amount of 3.652 billion rupees to plant 100 million trees in the country during next five years, reported Radio Pakistan.

A spokesperson of Climate Change Ministry said tree plantation is continuing in all the four provinces, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Federally Administered Tribal Areas in different ecological locations.

He said these locations include Road and canal sides, rehabilitation and re-stocking of the historical plantation, restoration and improvement of scrub forests, Conservation and enhancement of Juniper and Chilghoza forest and others.

The spokesman said 605.172 million rupees were allocated for the campaign during 2017-18 out of which, 242.068 million rupees have been released while 240.424 have been spent.
