The tournament, which is being organized by Usman Basketball Club District Central in collaboration with Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA), was inaugurated by KBBA Legal Advisor Ghulam Abbas Jamal Advocate. Other notables present on the occasion were Malik Ishaq of Pakistan Rangers, KBBA President Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Sher Khan, Rafi Hashmat Advocate and others.
In the first match, Civil Academy defeated Falcon Academy by 60-50. Muhammad Bilal (26), Muhammad Moeez (20) and Danial Marwat (12) were the key players from the winning club while from the losing club, Muhammad Khalid (29), Hammad Ali Khan (11) and Shayan (9) played well. In the second match of the opening day, Nasir Basketball Academy beat Bahria Basketball Academy by 49-43. From the victorious club, the top scorers were Hassan Ali (28), Danial Khan (11) and Zain Ali (4) while Ali Hassan (16), Emad Waseem (14) and Owais Khan (8) played well for the losing club.
Zafar Iqbal, Ashraf Yahya, Zahid Malik and Ghulam Muhammad Sr were the referees while technical officers were Raj Kumar Lakhwani, Naeem Ahmed, Mumtaz Ahmed and Muhammad Usman. Special guest Ghulam Abbas Jamal, while appreciating the Inter-Academy Basketball event, said that such an event would help in promoting sports at the grassroots level in the city and in hunting fresh talent.
