LAHORE - Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) president Dr Syed M Ali Shah has called for a change in the leadership of Pakistan Olympic Association (PAO) adding the upcoming elections of the body will bring a change by electing new faces.

"As far the SOA is concerned, it is a big supporter of bringing change and that is why it is supporting Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president Qasim Zia in the next month’s elections," he said this at Gadaffi Stadium on Tuesday where he witnessed the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women T20 cricket trophy final.

He said they were lending support to Qasim because he has done a lot to lift the sagging fortune of hockey which has started producing good results at international level.

M Ali Shah, also Sindh sports minister, was vocal in having a change on the leadership of POA on the grounds that the present regime of the Olympic committee led by its President Syed Arif Ali Shah has completed two successive terms and a time period of altogether eight years was enough for a leadership to do its best for the cause of sports in the country. "After reviewing the performance and progress achieved in previous years, it is widely suggested to bring a change to introduce a new culture in country's sports," he concluded.
