LAHORE – Despite repeated claims and assurances, Pakistan Railways (PRs) has not succeeded to normalize the operation forcing the passengers to wait for hours for trains at different railway stations in intense cold weather.

PR authorities were repeatedly insisting that trains delay due to shortage of diesel and engines which create problems for the passengers. Hundreds of passengers including women, children and elderly people remained stranded at different railways stations due to delay in train services moving up and down country. The trains including Havelian-Karachi Hazara Express, Quetta-Pindi Jaffer Express, Karachi-Multan Zakariya Express and Karachi-Pindi Express were delayed for two to nine hours.

The railway journey has become troublesome and passengers leaving to other parts of country and relatives waiting for arrival have to face dilemma of prolonged hours wait in chill weather condition. Another problem that passengers have to face was rough attitude of railways staff who avoid providing acurate information about arrival and departure of trains.
