QUETTA - Three people were suffocated to death in the provincial capital on Tuesday.

According to police, three people, identified as Mumtaz Ali, Bilawal and Kamal Khan in Killi Abro, in the outskirt of Quetta fell asleep the previous night without turning off their gas heater.

The heater consumed oxygen in the room, leaving them dead. Police rushed to the house and shifted the bodies to hospital for autopsy. Police handed over the bodies after completing legal formalities.

Quetta is in the grip of intense cold waves and incidents of gas suffocation occur every year in winter despite repeated warnings by officials to switch off heaters before sleeping.
