LAHORE–The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought report from Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) about the action taken against sub-standard CNG cylinder manufacturers.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial ordered to submit the report till Feb 28. Following the orders, a deputy attorney general Nasim Kashmiri informed the court that OGRA was taking action in this regard. Advocate Rana Mehtab had submitted that substandard cylinders were playing havoc with the lives of innocent people. At least 44 people lost their lives due to the explosions of these cylinders fitted in public transport vehicles.

He requested that the responsible for these sub-standard cylinders explosions be punished and compensation be given to the victims' families. He also prayed for directions to respondents for taking immediate action against these cylinder manufacturers and sub-standard installation workshops.
