KARACHI - The value of dollar raised against rupee in the interbank market, dealers said on Tuesday.

It began the day’s trading at Rs 90.15 for buying, gained five paisas and closed at Rs 90.2 for buying and Rs 90.25 for selling. The European currency gained strength against the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 116.54 for buying, increased Rs 1.06 and closed at Rs 117.6 for buying and Rs 117.8 for selling. The British pound surged against the rupee as it started the day’s trading at Rs 140.13 for buying, appreciated six paisas and closed at Rs 140.19 for buying and Rs 140.39 for selling.

In open market the dollar depreciated against the rupee, dealers said. It started the day’s trading at Rs 91.25 for buying, fell 95 paisas and closed at Rs 90.3 for buying and Rs 90.8 for selling. The Euro increased against local currency as it began the day’s trading at Rs 116 for buying, rose 50 paisas and closed at Rs 116.5 for buying and Rs 118.3 for selling.

The Pound sterling decreased against the rupee as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 140 for buying, slumped 50 paisas and closed at Rs 139.5 for buying and Rs 141.20 for selling.
