City celebrates Eid Miladun Nabi

LAHORE - The City is celebrating Eid Miladun Nabi today (Friday) amid tight security.
Various sittings and processions will be held to highlight the Sunnah. The main procession will be taken out from the railway station to Data Darbar while rallies from different areas will join it. The procession routes have been decorated while naat khawans will accompany these rallies. Various contests of decorating the streets and routes will also be held.
The main procession will pass through Australia Chowk, Branderth Road, Circular Road, Railway Road, Gowalmandi, Mayo Hospital, Bansanwala Bazaar, Shah Alam Chowk, Anarkali.
Children and youth are busy erecting the clay replica of desert and mountains of the Arab peninsula. Political parties have also planned function to celebrate the day.
A ceremony will be chaired by Malik Aftab Rabbani and Jahangir Badr while Senator Ishaq Dar, Justice (r) Dr Munir Mughal, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Dr Sabiha Mashriqi, Saad Rafiq, film star Mustafa Qureshi and other noted people will join in.
The City mosques and important buildings were decorated with colorful lightings and buntings.
The preparations culminated on Thursday night with the taking out of a torch bearers’ procession under the aegis of Central Milad Committee Jamia Hizbul Ahnaf from Data Darbar.
The participants riding vehicles and motorbikes and on foot, marched on The Mall under Mukhtar Ashraf Rizvi while Pir Afzal Qadri, Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Shahid Gardezi, Mustafa Ashraf Rizvi, Pir Idris Shah, Nisar Ashraf Rizvi, Naeem Arif Noori, Muhammad Shah Hamdani, Pir Khadim Hussain, Usman Noori and Maulana Tahir Tabassum were among the participants.
The Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) held a Milad Conference at Minar-e-Pakistan, which was addressed by its chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and participated by noted scholars and naat khawans. The Dawat-e-Islami asso arranged a Milad moot at Baba Ground.
ARRANGEMENTS: The district administration has finalised arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi. The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has made special cleanliness arrangements. In this connection, separate duty roasters of sanitary workers, inspectors, zonal officers and managerial personnel have been issued.
SECURITY: To maintain peace in the City, Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khan Baig chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO). Acting CCPO Lahore Naseem-ul-Zaman Siddiqui, DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai, DIG (Investigations) Chaudhry Shafique, SSP (Operations) Sohail Sukhera, SSP (Investigation) Babar Bakhat Qureshi and all the divisional SPs were also present on this occasion.
DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai informed the IGP that 6,300 policemen including six SPs, 36 SDPOs, 82 SHOs, 476 upper subordinates and 570 lower subordinates would be deployed across the City to provide security cover to the participants of procession and Mahafil of Eid Milad.
The IGP directed the police to ensure foolproof security for the Milad procession while police security should be kept on high alert during the beginning and end of the Mahafil.
RESCUERS ON ALERT: According to the Punjab Emergency Service, 6,000 rescuers will discharge duties in three shifts on Friday.
Chairing a meeting at Emergency Services Academy Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer directed all the district emergency officers (DEOs) to ensure comprehensive emergency medical cover on the occasion.
The leaves of the rescuers have also been restricted and they have been assigned special emergency duties. Main processions will be provided cover with mobile rescue posts along with fully equipped emergency vehicles including rescue ambulances, fire tenders and specialized vehicles.
