Patient loses patience, ends life

LAHORE  - A 50-year-old man ended his life at his house in Gulshan-e-Ravi to get rid of an ailment he had been suffering from for the last couple of years, police said on Friday.
Mahmood Ahmed had been residing alone in the small house as his wife and children shifted to Karachi some five years ago. He continued getting medical treatment from various hospitals but his health did not improve.
On the day of incident, he got disillusioned and took poisonous pills. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced as brought dead. The police have shifted the body to the morgue.
Alleged bandits killed in ‘shootout’
 An alleged robber was shot dead during an armed ‘encounter’ with policemen at Raiwind Road on early Friday while his accomplice escaped, police claimed. The police are yet to ascertain the identity of the alleged bandit, who died in the shootout.
Police said that two motorcyclists were fleeing after snatching cash and gold ornaments from a family at Bhoay Asal Road when the police were informed about the road robbery. The motorcyclists opened fire on a police party at Raiwind Road as the cops signaled the suspected to stop for checking.
The police also retaliated. As a result, one of the robbers was killed on-the-spot while his accomplice managed to escape. The police have also recovered a motorcycle from the crimes scene.
The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy and further investigation was underway.
