Police JIT absolves Sananullah, others in PTI’s worker’s killing

LAHORE- A report of police’s Joint Investigation Team has acquitted PML-N’s heavyweight Rana Sanaullah, Minister Abid Sher Ali and three others in a case pertaining to killing of PTI worker.
A PTI activist, Haq Nawaz, 22, was shot dead during a clash between PML-N supporters, police and PTI workers during PTI’s protest against election rigging in Faisalabad on December 8. 2014.  PTI chairman Imran Khan had announced ‘shutdown’ of Faisalabad on Dec 8 that later turned into a violent day.
After killing of its worker, PTI had got case registered against Rana Sanaullah, who was Punjab’s law minister at that time, and other PML-N leaders.
However in its latest investigation report, the police acquitted Sananullah, his son-in-law Shehryar, State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, DCO Faisalabad Noorul Amin Mengal and MPA Tahir Jamil from the charges, saying the nominated persons were not present at the crime spot.
The report held Ilyas aka Toti, Hafiz Imran and Usman as culprits responsible for killing PTI worker. The three accused had opened fire on PTI rally, according to police. The police will submit case challan in the court on Monday.
