Finca celebrates 10 years in Pakistan

LAHORE (PR): FINCA Microfinance Bank Ltd, one of the leading microfinance banks in Pakistan, has celebrated its 10th anniversary in Pakistan. The celebrations kicked off with an event in Lahore.

At the event, FINCA reaffirmed its resolution to become a leading force to bring financial inclusion to Pakistan. The event was attended by the FINCA BOD, management, staff, and its top management from the global FINCA network. An award ceremony celebrated and appreciated the hard work and dedication of the FINCA team during 2017 too.

Rupert W Scofield, co-founder of FINCA and President FINCA International, congratulated FINCA Pakistan on completing 10 years of operations in the country.

He shared a heart-warming anecdote of the period during which FINCA made the decision to enter the Pakistan market, and talked of his pride at the performance of the organisation since then.

MD of Kashf Foundation & Board Member of FINCA Pakistan, Roshaneh Zafar talked of her ever-lasting association with the FINCA brand in Pakistan. She cherished the relationship as an important underpinning of her work in the microfinance industry, from the organization’s founding as Kashf Microfinance Bank in 2008, its acquisition by FINCA in 2013 to its eventual completion of the 10th year of successful operations. She wished the organization continued success and reiterated her commitment to contribute to the organization’s future through her duties on the FINCA Pakistan’s Board of Directors.

Zar Wardak, VP & regional director MESA and chair of FINCA Pakistan’s Board, thanked her fellow Board members for overseeing with her the remarkable journey of FINCA Pakistan.

The event, apart from celebrating a decade in Pakistan, was also aimed at commemorating the financial and social performance goals that FINCA surpassed in 2017.

 

NIDE’s new building inaugurated

KARACHI (PR): Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the new building “Begum Nafees Sardar Yasin Malik Centre”, National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Dow University of Health Sciences, Ojha Campus, renowned social worker Sardar Yasin Malik said that the number of people suffering from diabetes is increasing at a significant rate in Pakistan. This raised the need to take some protective measures in order to overcome the high prevalence of diabetes and endocrine diseases, he added.

National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Dow University of Health Sciences is one of the institutions that is serving the patients suffering from diabetes and other endocrine diseases. The expansion of the services of this institution will soon be multiplied and this institute would be benefitting 300 patients on daily basis in the near future. The vice chancellor of Dow University, Professor Dr M Saeed Quraishy and Director NIDE, Professor Dr Akhtar Ali Balouch also addressed the ceremony. The event was attended by directors of different departments of Dow University.

Biggest GSD competition

 

RAWALPINDI (PR): The best German Shepherd dogs (GSD) from across Pakistan gathered recently to compete in the biggest GSD competition in the country. Named as the “Landesgruppen Show Islamabad”, it was a delight for the dog loving residents of the twin cities. Almost a 100 dogs participated in the event and were judged by a SV judge, Ms Nancy Herms, who flew in especially from Germany for the event. She is an appointed SV Judge and also holds the Silver Merit Ribbon. The event was held at football stadium in ARID Agriculture University.

 

SNGPL bags CSR award

 

LAHORE (PR): SNGPL recently participated in the 10th International Summit and Corporate Responsibility Awards 2018 ceremony held in Islamabad.

The awards ceremony was arranged by M/s National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH). On the occasion, Farrukh Majeed, General Manager HSE, SNGPL, received the CSR Award 2018 in the category of “Public Health and Safety Programmes” from Jam Kamal Khan, Minister of State for Petroleum Division. SNGPL was awarded for its CSR activities carried out for the benefits of the community. The governing body of NFEH and panel of judges appreciated the efforts done by SNGPL in the field of CSR.
