Court orders unfreezing of Dar’s trust accounts

ISLAMABAD - Accountability Court Islamabad, on the application of former finance minister Ishaq Dar, has allowed unfreezing of Hajweri Trust and Hajweri Foundation’s accounts to meet the expenses of welfare projects being run under these bodies.

Passing the orders on the application against the freezing of accounts of Hajweri Trust and Hajweri Foundation, the court directed that the accounts opened under the order could only be operated to run the ongoing welfare projects being run by those bodies. Earlier, in the application it was submitted that Hajweri Trust and Hajweri Foundation were running welfare projects including an orphanage, and in case the accounts of both these bodies remained frozen they would be constrained to stop running these welfare projects, so the accounts of both these bodies should be opened.

On the previous date of hearing, the court had reserved judgement on the matter and pronounced it Wednesday allowing both these welfare bodies to operate the accounts for running the day-to-day expenses of the ongoing welfare projects.

Further arguments in the assets beyond known sources of income case against the former finance minister Ishaq Dar would be taken up on January 31.
