Islamabad - Chairman National Accountability Bureau Justice (R) Javed Iqbal sought report from directors general of all regional bureaus on action taken on corruption complaints lodged by people in respective bureaus from Oct 11, 2017 to date, a statement issued here on Wednesday said.

He also sought report whether the complainants had been informed about receipt and progress on their complaints accordingly as directed earlier. The regional bureaus have also been directed to fix responsibility of officials who had failed to issue receipts and provide remedy to complainants as such officers have no place in the NAB, the statement added.

The chairman had earlier devised a mechanism to listen to peoples’ complaints related to corruption on last Thursday of every month. The chairman NAB himself is listening to peoples’ complaints for the last two months at NAB Headquarters, the statement revealed. In order to save time and money of people coming from far-flung areas of the country, the chairman directed all directors general of NAB to listen to peoples’ complaints from 2pm to 4pm on last Thursday of each month as he wanted to resolve peoples’ issues at their door steps. The regional bureaus had also been directed to ensure complainants’ self respect.

As per instructions of the chairman NAB, all directors general of NAB regional bureaus would listen to people’s corruption-related complaints at their respective offices from 2pm to 4pm today, Thursday, January 25, being last Thursday of January 2018. The chairman NAB will listen to people’s corruption-related complaints at NAB headquarters today as per schedule from 2pm to 4 pm.

The chairman NAB directed all regional DGs to resolve people’s complaints if laws conferred powers on them to do so and other complaints should be forwarded to NAB Headquarters for processing as per law and complainants should also be informed about progress in their complaints. No laxity will be tolerated in this regard, the chairman made it clear, the statement said.
