Court rejects acquittal plea in couple’s torture case

ISLAMABAD -Additional  Sessions Judge (ASJ) Atta Rabbani on Monday dismissed the acquittal plea of a co accused of Usman Mirza involved in stripping a couple naked in a flat in E-11/2 and placing them under sever torture. The co-accused, who had filed acquittal plea, has been identified as Umar Bilal. “Since the trial has entered into final stage, therefore, the acquittal plea is dismissed,” remarked the judge in his verdict that earlier had been reserved after completion of arguments of all the parties. It may be noted that the co-accused had moved acquittal plea after the couple had detracted from their statement saying they could not recognised the accused. Meanwhile, ASJ Atta Rabbani has postponed hearing in couple torture case till today (Tuesday) by ordering the defence lawyers to cross examine the investigating officer during the hearing. Meanwhile, a court of law in Rawalpindi has also rejected the pre arrest bails of two accused involved in sodomizing a 20 year old boy on gunpoint in Dhamial in the limits of police station Saddar Bairooni. The accused identified as Hamza Jamshed and Fahad Waheed had fled from courtroom after the judge cancelled their bails.
