QUETTA - A professor of Government Degree College Quetta was gunned down on Friday. Police said Ghulam Sarwar, Professor of Chemistry was standing outside his house at Sariab Road when armed men riding on a motorcycle opened fire on him and escaped from the site. He received several bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police shifted his body to the Civil Hospital for autopsy. 'It is a target killing, a police officer said, adding, that raids were being conducted in various areas to arrest the killers. A large number of professors and teachers rushed to the Civil Hospital and strongly condemned the brutal killing of Degree College Professor. The President of Professors and Lecturers Association Nawaz Soomro announced mourning of three days across Balochistan and boycott of colleges for Saturday (today) as protest. It may be mentioned that Principal of Govt High School Sariab Mills Muhammad Mohsin was also shot dead at Sariab Road two days ago. Several other teachers and heads of educational institutions have fallen prey to new wave of target killings in different towns of Balochistan including Quetta.
