ISLAMABAD - Pakistan on Friday took serious notice of the remarks made by Indian State Minister for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor about the joint statement, issued following the meeting between the prime ministers of the two countries in Sharm El-Sheikh, said an official statement. According to the statement, the Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said, Such statements are inconsistent with diplomatic norms. Tharoor had reportedly said that the India-Pakistan joint statement issued after the recent meeting between Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Egypt is a diplomatic paper and not a legal document. Basit in his reaction said, The insinuations made by Mr Tharoor were unwarranted and inconsistent with diplomatic norms. He said, Both sides should refrain from remarks that detract from the progress made in Sharm-El-Sheikh.
