OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Entry test for admissions to engineering institutions of the Punjab for undergraduate programmes (Entry 2011) was postponed due to leakage of question paper before time, said spokesman of University of Engineering and Technology Lahore on Sunday. New date for the entry test would be announced later, said spokesman, adding that it would be announced before August 25 which is the date of announcement of FSc result. University of Engineering and Technology Lahore Vice-Chancellor Gen (r) Muhammad Akram has constituted an inquiry committee and ordered probe into the issue. The committee headed by Professor Dr Zuabair Ahmad and Dr Akram and Muhammad Ali as members would report to the VC after thorough inquiry into the mater. It is worth mentioning here that admission committee was responsible for the secrecy and fair distribution of the question papers among the candidates. Professor Dr Saleem Abid Tabasum is convener of admission committee, Professor Ijaz Chaudary Chief Coordinator and 10 other teachers are members of the this committee. The said test was being held at University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore, UET Texila, Bahaud-Din Zikrya University Engineering College Multan, Islamia University Bahawalpur, NFC Institute of Engineering Research & Fertilizer Faisalabad, university of Gujrat, Sideeq Public School 6th Road Satellite Town Rawalpindi, NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi. Khyber Pakhtunkhawa University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar and Balochistan Boys Scouts Association Office Quetta simultaneously. The candidates were asked to reach their centres concerned an hours before the commencement of test. Spokesman of UET said that 48000 students were supposed to appear in test who rushed from far flung areas to their centres concerned but after going through test it was revealed that paper was out before time due to which University of Engineering and Technology has cancelled the test. He said that all the arrangements were made due to which government has to face revenue loss also. Every student had paid Rs 350 as admission fee and now he would appear in the next test with fee already paid. The UET Spokesman quoted varsity VC as saying that after inquiry, all the people involved in leakage of information would be brought to justice.
