OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - A 22-year-old pregnant woman expired due to the alleged negligence of doctors at General Hospital early on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Madeeha, a resident of Chungi Amar Sadhu. According to the accounts of the family members, the deceased was pregnant and they had brought her to General Hospital after she was suffering from severe labour pains. The doctors denied checking the patient saying that it was a routine pain, the family members said, adding they requested to the doctors several times but they did not pay attention. Resultantly, the woman expired on the premises of the General Hospital. After the incident, family members of the deceased turned violent and staged a protest demonstration on Ferozepur Road by placing body on the road. Resultantly, traffic mess was also observed on Ferozepur Road for several hours. Police reached the spot and dispersed the protesters by assuring them of providing them justice. Talking to the reporters, a Duty Officer AMS Dr Munazza, however, claimed that when family members brought Madeeha to hospital, she had already expired. According to the AMS, in such circumstances, surviving the baby is always impossible but even then the doctors checked the baby. She said that after babys death was confirmed, doctors handed over the bodies to heirs but they started protesting. No case was lodged till filing of this report. Further investigations were underway.
