Rawalpindi, Islamabad and the upper parts of the country are receiving heavy monsoon rains. The low lying areas of Rawalpindi are submerging in water while there is threat of floods in Nullah Lai. The water level at Katarian has risen to fourteen and a half feet. According to the flood control centre the intensity of rain is subsiding while blockade on some places in the flow of water has been removed which is reducing the water level. It said that 117 millimeters rain has been recorded in Islamabad and 65.1 millimeter in Rawalpindi. The water level at Rawal Dam has reached to the danger level and its spillways have been opened. The Met Office has forecast more rains in Islamabad and other parts of the country. Meanwhile, water level in Nullah Lai in Rawalpindi is constantly increasing following heavy rains. The administration is sounding alarms to warn the nearby people to shift quickly to the safer places. The Rescue teams are on high alert to shift the people to safer places.
