PESHAWAR - Member of PPP (Sherpao) group Amir Yousafzai was injured when unknown persons hurled a hand grenade at the house of Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao in Hayatabad area of Peshawar on Tuesday.

Sources said that Amir Yousafzai was present in the house of Aftab Sherpao in Sector D-4, Phase-I area of Hayatabad when unknown assailants hurled hand grenade at the house of Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao where the party election campaign office is also situated.

As a result of the attack, Amir Yousafzai was injured and was rushed to Hayatabad medical complex. The blast also damaged boundary wall and the window panes of the house.  

Soon after the incident heavy contingents of police rushed towards the site and cordoned off the area. They also started search action in Hayatabad Phase-I. However, no arrest has been made so far.

Meanwhile, Chairman PPP-Sherpao (PPP-S) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and provincial President Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao condemned the bomb attack on party’s office.

In a statement issued here Tuesday, the PPP-S leadership said that protection of life and property of people was the responsibility of the government.

“But in the prevailing law and order situation, it seems that government is least-bothered to pay adequate attention to maintain its writ,” they said.

They said that some vested interests elements wanted to discourage the party workers. They further demanded an immediate inquiry into the matter and arrest those involved in this heinous act.

They also appreciated the courage of PPP-S workers and assured full support to those injured in the attack.
