LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government is implementing an exhaustive plan to ensure prompt and inexpensive justice to the citizens of the province.
Zero tolerance for those police persons who shirk their duties towards the masses, the chief minister said while hearing complaints of citizens who came from various districts at his Tent Office on Tuesday.
He said after the police force had been provided maximum resources and facilities, it was now, incumbent upon it to produce positive results and warned of strict action to those who would fail to provide justice or deliberately avoid registration of cases.
The chief minister said as provision of speedy and inexpensive justice to the people was top priority of the Punjab government, thus it was necessary for the police force to work with commitment and dedication to ensure justice to the common man in police stations.
“The time has come to shun the archaic investigative system and adopt a modernised pattern of investigation into the cases, while in regard to heinous crimes, investigation should be carried out through the Forensic Lab,” Shahbaz Sharif added. He said increasing complaints of the citizens against the attitude of police force were intolerable, and warned the police to change its behavior in positive direction.
