MQM worker among four mowed down



 KARACHI – Four people including an activist of MQM were killed in different areas of the City on Tuesday. A volunteer of the Saylani Welfare Trust (SWT) was found dead from Gauharabad area within the precincts of PIB Colony police station.  The SWT volunteer was identified as 36-year-old Mujahid, son of Munnay Khan who lived in Sindhi Hotel area of Liaquatabad. According to inquiry officer Rana Ajmal, the deceased was the volunteer of the SWT. The unidentified culprits first kidnapped him and then killed him, he added. The police officer said that the victim was shot once in his chest while several marks of torture were found in his body. His body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy. Later, his body was handed over to his family. The officer said that the initial investigation suggests that the deceased was killed on the suspicious of being police informant while the further investigations were underway. Another body of a young man was found from a nullah in Gulzar Colony within the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police. Police said that the body was placed in the gunny bag and the victim’s hands and legs were tied with the ropes. Police further said that the deceased was tortured to death after kidnapping while no mark of bullet was found in his body. The body was taken to JPMC and later moved to city morgue for identification. Meanwhile, an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was gunned down here in the remits of Garden police. Police said that Aslam Jan, 30, was standing outside his home located in Shoe Market, Garden area when gunmen riding a motorbike reached there and sprayed bullets on him. The culprits managed to flee from the scene while the victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.On the other side, police found dead body from Metrovil within the remits of Site A Police Station. Police said that Umar Qayyum was employee of private factory where unknown assailants stabbed him to death. Police have taken six of his associate into custody for questioning.
