Peshawar- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said Azadi March on August 14 is not harmful for the democracy , but will strengthen democratic norms.

He expressed these views to a joint delegation of District Bar and Press Club at Nowshera. Khattak said the purpose of the march is to check rigging in polls and to bring reforms in the Election Commission.

Pervez Khattak said that his party wanted transparent elections in the country.

The delegation apprised CM of certain local problems and demands including lawyers and media colonies, construction of lawyers’ chambers, lawyers endowment fund, training of lawyers in Judicial academy, induction of Nowshera lawyers as legal advisors and annexure of adjacent C&W park with press club Nowshera; to which Pervez Khattak assured proper consideration and issued on spot instructions to the quarters concerned.

Khattak said that he introduced basic reforms and worked hard for the restoration of institutions and elimination of corruption. He further added that the government had also given legal cover to its reforms.

Pervez Khattak said that under the new local government system, his government had transferred all powers to root level and a provincial developmental budget of Rs 30 billion would be spent through village councils.
