LAHORE - With a view to swift redressal of the grievances of Overseas Pakistanis, the Punjab government has decided to establish Overseas Police Stations.
These police stations will be set up in those cities on priority basis from where a large number of people are living abroad, Punjab Overseas Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said while talking to an 8-member delegation of Pakistan Press Club, UK headed by its president Mobeen Chaudhary yesterday.
The OPC commissioner said that on special directions of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif as many as 76 seats have been allocated on merit for the children of Overseas Pakistanis in Medical Colleges of the province. He further said that the committees have also been set up at district level with a view to address the problems of Overseas Pakistanis. Bhatti told the delegation that the OPC is playing a pivotal and proactive role to address the issues faced by Overseas Pakistanis and they can contact the commission for the solution of the problems regarding provincial departments. The members of Pakistan Press Club UK hailed the formation of OPC by Punjab government as “a positive step towards solution of the problems of Overseas Pakistanis”.
They included Mobeen Chaudary, Arshad Mehmood, Majid Nazeer, Musarat Iqbal, Akram Abid, Imran Khalid, Aurangzeb Chaudahry and Fareed Qureshi.
