GUJRANWALA - US Consulate Principal Officer Bryan D Hunt on Wednesday said there is vast opportunity of free trade with Pakistan and hoped that the US investments would increase when the security situation in Pakistan improves. He was addressing the members of Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) here. GCCI President M Akram presided over the meeting. Bryan D Hunt said that the US wants to strengthen Pakistans economy by promoting economic relations. In this context, he said the US is cooperating with the Pakistan government for restoring internal peace so that a sense of security could be developed among the foreign investors. He said Pakistani products meeting the international standards can find access to the US market. In particular, lauding the quality of Gujranwala made products, Bryan D Hunt said these could find a good place in the US market. However, he stressed that these products must be appropriately introduced in the markets and for this matter the govt of Pakistan can take the required steps and measures. Earlier, in his welcome address, GCCI president M Akram said that greater trade-relations between Pakistan and the US would augment Pak economy and thus improve its stability. He stressed the need for friendly relations between the business community of both the countries, saying these would result in better access for Pak products to the US markets. VPs Malik Zaheerul Haq, Muhammad Faisal Afzal, former presidents of GCCI, prominent traders, industrialists and other notables were also present on the occasion. Later, Bryan D Hunt also visited Super Asia group of companies and appreciated the quality home appliances of the company. He visited various parts of the factory and was presented a souvenir by Chairman Haji Muhammad Yousaf as well. Meanwhile, the US principal officer also met PML-N MNA Barrister Usman Ibrahim at his residence and discussed political conditions.
