LAHORE The Lahore High Court Chief justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry on Friday called for the appearance of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore on June 29 on a petition which has been filed against a Sub-Inspector (SI) serving secretly at Gulshane-Ravi police station despite the fact he has been declared proclaimed offender (PO) by a court of law in 2008. Deputy inspector general of police (operations) appearing before court of LHC CJ last day admitted that SI Abdul Shakoor had been serving in the police department notwithstanding the fact that he was declared PO by the court. However, he explained to the court that a fake report was prepared by the SI and Muhammad Faisal Constable along with SHO in favour of the SI and now they all have been suspended. He added that matter pertaining to investigation of the Cell and CCPO Lahore being in charge of the same, can explain the position with regard to the SI. The SI allegedly worked at the investigation cell of CCPO also concealing his status as PO from every body. Upon this the court directed CCPO Lahore to appear in person in the court on June 29. The court directed additional prosecutor general to convey the direction to the CCPO at the earliest. Mst Khalida Perveen had filed petition through her counsel Iqbal Bhatti Advocate contending that on September 13, 2008 she got an FIR registered against SI Abdul Shakoor under section 155 and 156 of PPC for keeping her two sons in illegal custody and subjecting them to server torture during his posting at police station Islampura, Lahore. The SI got bail in the case from court of additional judge Lahore. However later he did not appear in the court when proceedings stated and the court declared him PO after a due legal process. The SI with help of his friends in police prepared and submitted a bogus report in court that he had gone missing and his whereabouts were not known and proceedings were freezed for the time being.
