Strict security in twin cities planned

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police have chalked out a comprehensive security plan for the polling at 22 polling stations for the AJK polls here in Islamabad. The decision was made in a high level meeting headed by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan on Friday. While finalising the security plane IGP made these directions to them here at crime meeting in Islamabad Traffic Police Headquarters held to review the law and order situation and devise effective strategy to combat crime SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, AIG (Establishment) Asharf Zubair Siddiqui, SPs Mir Vaiz Niaz, Nadeem Hussain, Muhammad Ilyas, Ishaq Warraich, all SDPOs, SHOs and other police officials were present on the occasion. IGP said that it is the prime responsibility of police to provide secure atmosphere to the people of AJK casting vote here and directed all police officials to make comprehensive security arrangements at polling stations in their respective jurisdictions. He asked SPs and DSPs to conduct visit of the policing stations and maintain complete coordination for elaborate security. During this meeting, the IGP also issued directions to arrest the proclaimed offenders and court absconders on priority and said that performance of police officials would be discussed in the next meeting to be held in the beginning of next month. The IGP was told that a total of 194 proclaimed offenders, 576 court absconders were arrested during the current year while a total of 435 cases for possessing illegal weapons and 513 cases of drug peddling were registered at the various police stations during this period. It was also told that 1930 cases were sent to court during this year after completing the investigation on them while a total of 1441 suspects were also held. About the survey going on in Capital, the IGP was told that Islamabad Police station are effectively maintaining the record of tenants as well as residents and the survey would be completed in the nest week.
