QUETTA -

Members of Balochistan Assembly have demanded the government to form a high-level committee to unearth the corruption made in various development schemes.

The legislators hailing from treasury and opposition benches made this demand during the Balochistan Assembly session that met with Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali in the chair, here on Monday.

Debating on the provincial budget, deputy opposition leader Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai applauded the cm for preparing a people-friendly budget and hoped Opp members would also be given importance. He said scores of funds have been allocated for development schemes which even haven’t been identified; “thus we are concerned over the schemes, as these would be given to the treasury members. We are democratic people and would compete democratically.” National Party leader Khalid Langove said budget was in accordance with aspirations of people as the province was facing hard times during past 65 years. The wounds of Balochistan would take decades to heal, he added. “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif demonstrated generosity by giving power to Baloch nationalists; thus there is a little ray of hope that the issues would be resolved,” he remarked. The NP leader said it was Pervaiz Musharraf who had plunged Balochistan and the country into crises.

He said, “We support the decision taken by PM Nawaz Sharif regarding legal action against Musharraf.” He stressed that the issues including recovery of decomposed bodies, missing persons and sectarianism violence should be addressed. He regretted that Hindu community is facing enormous issues as its people are being kidnapped for ransom. He demanded that the community should be given protection.
