Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah has said that important headway has been made in the investigation into the killings of foreign tourists in Diamer.

In a statement he said‚ the names of the culprits will be given to media in two days.

Meanwhile a case was registered against unidentified men in relation to the murder of 10 foreign tourists at the foot of Nanga Parbat, Gilgit-Baltistan.

A search operation is underway in Diamer, while the area surrounding the base camp has been sealed.

Police said around 37 suspects have been arrested since the incident.

In the aftermath of the killing, the federal government had suspended the chief secretary and inspector general of Gilgit-Baltistan, and constituted a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the tragedy.
