KARACHI - At least five people were killed in separate incidents of violence, while law enforcers claimed to have booked some 15 suspects during various raids conducted in different parts of the City on Monday.

A trader identified as Shaikh Maqsood was shot dead in Korangi area within the remits of Korangi Industrial Area Police Station. DSP Qasim Ghauri said as per the initial investigation, the trader and culprits were travelling in the same car. As the trader tried to escape at Korangi Road, the outlaws gunned him down and managed to flee from the scene. The victim was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.

A chicken-vendor was shot dead on sectarian grounds in Block-6, Gulshan-e-Iqbal locality. According to initial investigation, the deceased identified as Nadeem Chakwali aka Raja was present at his shop when unidentified gunmen ridding on a motorbike shot him dead and managed to flee from the scene.

In another incident, a youth was shot dead in Nasir Town within the remits of Memon Goth Police Station. The deceased was identified as 32-year-old Afzal Shah, who had been kidnapped some days back. Police said Shah was used to work at a private garments factory and the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained. His body was taken to JPMC and later handed over to his family for burial after autopsy.

Another youth was shot dead on Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road within the limits of Kalri Police Station. The victim identified as 27-year-old Abdul Razzak was shot dead by some armed men when he was sitting at a hotel. Police said the victim was killed apparently over the ongoing clash between Kutchi and Lyari gangsters.

A young man who has yet to be identified was found dead near from Super Highway within the limits of Sohrab Goth Police Station. Police said the initial investigation revealed that the deceased was shot and killed by unidentified persons after being kidnapped over unexplained reasons.
