ISLAMABAD - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is promoting Pakistani mangoes in the international markets. The USAID through its Firms Project has to-date assisted three sea shipments during the current harvesting season carrying over 60 tonnes of Sindhri mango variety to the United Kingdom and Holland. Two of the shipments have left the port and the third is in progress, a private channel reported. Shipments worth $0.12 million have been sent from three USAID supported SME farms in Sindh. Shipments of premium quality mangoes sent to high-end European and UK markets have materialised from an intensive identification process, creation of market linkages and participation at international events such as the Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
