Windstorm kills 6, damages power distribution system

Six people lost their lives in different incidents occurred due to windstorm and subsequent heavy rain here the other day.
As per details, five persons were buried alive when roofs of their house caved in due to heavy windstorm while several were injured.
A girl was injured when a boundary wall fell over her and she was taken to Lahore in critical condition. However she succumbed to her injuries.
In Faisalabad, windstorm affected 127 electricity poles while 35 transformers had been damaged in several districts of the Fesco jurisdiction.
Due to the havoc caused by the storm several areas of Punjab including Jhang and Sargodha, Faisalabad are facing prolonged loadshedding while State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali and Federal Secretary of Water and Electricity Nargis Sathi have sought report from the Fesco authorities.  The Fesco spokesperson said that the company was repairing the damage caused by the windstorm on war-footings. He said that the storm affected 127 poles in the Fesco jurisdiction on which 35 transformers of 25, 50, 100 and 200 KV were destroyed.
The Fesco Chief Executive immediately issued directions to start relief operation and workers completed the repair work in a very short time.
