Hosts, Chile, defeated a nine men Uruguay team to book a place in the semi finals of the Copa America 2015. Mauricio Isla scored a late winner in the 81st minute to send the cup holders, Uruguay, out of the tournament.

A confident looking Chile dominated a very physical encounter that resulted in a total of six yellow cards and two sending offs with Uruguay’s Edison Cavani and Jorge Fucile receiving red cards late on at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago.

Chile was by far the better team as they dominated play from midfield with star players Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez shining for the hosts.

A stubborn Uruguayan defense, however, was able to hold Chile till the 81st minute when, finally, Isla smashed a late winner from 16 yards out. The goal caused uproar in the Estadio Nacional as the Chileans stormed out to hug and celebrate with the hero of the night, Mauricio Isla.

Chile dominated with 80% possession and hit a total of 15 shots testing Muslera on 7 occasions. Chile will now face either Peru or Bolivia in the semis as they look to clinch their first ever Copa America title.
