KARACHI - Sizzling heat perished over 1500 lives during fifth consecutive day in the metropolis with Edhi officials claiming to have received more than 1200 bodies while MQM and mortuary at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital received over 300 bodies- affected from heat stroke during last five days.

As many as 1000 people died due to heat stork in city hospitals while number of other victims died in small medical institutes and clinics.

Hospitals statistics revealed that some 238 people have died here on Wednesday raising the death toll to 1000 in last four days. Dr Simi Jamali Inicharge Emergency at Jinnah postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) confirmed that some 56 people have so far been killed in JPMC on Wednesday raising death toll to 310. She also confirmed that around 7500 patients were brought to hospital in last four days due to heatstroke.

Dr Saeed Qurashi at Civil Hospital Karachi confirmed the death toll as 165 while 30 people have died on the fifth day alone. Director Medical and Health Services Salma Kosar confirmed that some 81 people have died on Wednesday alone while some 14 have so far died in different hospitals of district administration.

Sindh Government Hospital New Karachi confirmed that total 10 people have been died while Indus Hospital confirmed total of 43 deaths. Ziauddin hospital confirmed 36 casualties and Liaquat National Hospital confirmed nine deaths on Wednesday raising death toll to 73 deaths.

In Qater Hospital Orangi Town total number of deaths was 34 while Agha Khan hospital confirmed 20. KHID hospital confirmed death toll 55 in last four days. It is worth mentioning here that scores of people were unable to reach major hospitals of city while clinical doctors pronounced their deaths and handed over the bodies to the families.

Karachi continued to sizzle with heat wave with almost every major hospital receiving heatstroke patients across the city and registered massive number casualties.

Witnesses said that Edhi Foundation receiving hundreds of bodies, but because of limited space they could not entertain all. People were roaming to get space in mortuaries while long queues were seen at ice shops.

Meanwhile, bodies were also being received by the MQM mortuaries across city while the Imambarghas in the city had also received bodies in their mortuaries.
