Funeral prayer for Pak Army Lt-Col Iftikhar Ahmed Jamil, who was martyred in operation Zarb-e-Azab in Waziristan on Tuesday, was offered at army ground Multan Cantt on Wednesday.
Civil and Military officers and Jawans including Major General Aamer Hasnat Gilani, Garrison Commander attended the prayer. He was laid to rest in a local cemetery.
Lt-Col Iftikhar Ahmed was a son of a renowned religious scholar Allama Fazal Ahmed Taheemi and son-in law of Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori. The martyr is survived by a widow. Talking to the journalists, the mother of the martyr told journalists that her son was fighting against terrorism for the security of the country and the nation .He was so sure about where he wanted to be, and he was so happy to wear the army uniform and work for the country’.
The martyr Lt-Col Iftikhar got commission on April 3, 1997 and offered services in different capacities for peacekeeping in the country and abroad. He remained part of UN peacekeeping force and served on Congo.
