Rawal Town roads purged of encroachments

Rawalpindi - The anti-encroachment department of Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) along with city traffic police (CTO) began a joint operation to remove encroachments from the busiest roads of Rawal Town.
A total of 250 encroachments have been removed by the joint team during the operation conducted in the areas of Murree Road, Commercial Market, Raja Bazaar, City Saddar Road, Liqauat Road, Saddar, Sadiqabad and many other areas, informed RTMA and CTO spokesman here on Wednesday.
A couple of days ago, Special Branch of Punjab police in a report submitted to the office of Regional Police Officer (RPO) raised concern over massive encroachments in various areas of RTMA, declaring them big security risk. The RPO ordered CTP to take action against encroachments. According to them, a special squad has been constituted which carried out operation against encroachers in various areas of Rawal Town. They said that the anti-encroachment squad seized a huge quantity of stuff that was placed by shopkeepers on footpaths and on roads, besides removing 250 encroachments.
After the operation, the traffic flow became smooth in the areas, they added.
They said that warning was also issued to the shopkeepers running their businesses along Murree Road not to put their stuff on road or else strict action would be taken against them.
